Instrument condition and quality are critical to the performance of the band as a whole in terms of both sound and appearance. The current Marching Hundred Matching Instrument Campaign seeks to replace worn-out, mismatched instruments as well as provide ongoing maintenance for those instruments.

The annual budget doesn’t cover the cost of replacing aging instruments or the total cost of needed repairs. Students who play smaller instruments like trumpets, trombones, and saxophones use their personal instruments, which are in varying states of quality and repair, and are non-uniform in sound and appearance. Larger brass instruments like sousaphones, mellophones, and baritones are provided by the band, but many of these instruments are well beyond their useful life and need to be replaced.

Recently, as a result of your generous response to the Campaign over the past year, the Marching Hundred made its first purchase of 20 new matching baritones! Your gift today brings us one step closer to meeting our goal of outfitting the entire band with new matching brass instruments, ensuring that the Marching Hundred looks as good as they sound. Thank you!
