I am raising money to help volunteer with a group of students from Le Cercle Francophone d'UCLA (UCLA's French club) at an orphanage in Fond Doux, Haiti, during this year's spring break!
Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere with nearly 80 % of the population living below the poverty line. The people who live there have limited access to education, medical care, proper housing, and, most importantly, clean water.
My name is Austin (Sy) Clark, and I am a current senior undergraduate student studying at the University of California, Los Angeles. For our spring break here at UCLA, a small group of us from Le Cercle Francophone d'UCLA (The French Club at UCLA) will be heading to Fond Doux, Haiti to volunteer at the orphanage there and serve its surrounding community. The children in this orphanage suffer disproportionately compared to those with family support in Haiti, and thus it is one of our goals to help these children as much as we can by providing necessities such as clothing and school supplies as well as providing compassion and friendship to help them feel loved.
Any donations would be really appreciated! All of the funds raised will go towards the volunteer project, including travel / transportation expenses, lodging, and food. My hope is to raise additional funds to further a project at the orphanage to help the children more. We plan on taking a whole suitcase full of clothes and school supplies, so if you’re in the Los Angeles area and would like to donate any of those kinds of items, it would go a long way! Thanks in advance, and please let me know if you have any questions!
